I am recent post-grad in my early 20s, which you can most likely guess what that means. Correct! I have no idea what I'm doing. Like many young adults I'm being faced with the mayhem that is the current job market and I haven't quite figure out where I want to land. While I am in the process of discovering this, I decided to take some matters into my own hands and capitalize off of my love for strategy, story-telling, and creativity. That's what has led me here. I’m Maggie McGehee (yes, that is my first name) and I want to share a bit about my journey through this phase of life, hoping it resonates with others in their 20s who are figuring out their own paths.
Finding My Footing After Graduation
I'll be honest, I thought this was going to be easy. Maybe that's naive of me, but up until this point I've never doubted my own abilities, but showing this to HR Managers and companies has proved to be a whole new challenge, one I didn't quite anticipate. I have never been hit with such a high amount of rejection before and that was jarring. I would be lying if I said my self-confidence hasn't taken a hit. My plan was always go where the job is, but now almost a year later and that "big girl" job still has not happened. I've been close a few times, but it just hasn't panned out. Bouncing from part-time job to gig after gig is necessary, but not what I want to be doing. That is why I have now decided to take matters into my own hands and pivot. I'm not saying I think this journey of becoming a UGC creator will be easy, but I have a feeling it will be rewarding! Excited for you to follow along.
